Finally found a proper Porsche indie in Dubai after dealer horror stories

I honestly thought I was stuck with the dealership forever after my 911 Carrera developed an oil leak and the service advisor quoted me 12k for what turned out to be just a failed timing chain cover gasket. A friend who tracks his Cayman GT4 recommended a Professional Porsche Repair Service Dubai that specializes in these M97 engines, and I'm so glad I listened. They diagnosed the leak in under an hour, showed me the exact spot with a borescope, and fixed it for less than a third of the dealer's estimate. They even pointed out a worn water pump pulley that was about to fail, caught it before it left me stranded. The best part? No upselling, no nonsense about "recommended" extras, and the car drives exactly like it should. If you're tired of getting rinsed by the official route and want honest work from people who actually know these cars, seriously consider giving an independent specialist a chance.

Twelve grand for a gasket is exactly why people leave dealers. Still, one glowing post from a single shop makes me a bit wary. Did you get a written invoice showing what they actually replaced?

Glad it worked out, man. Nothing worse than a quote that makes you think about selling the car. Good catch on the pulley too, that would've ruined your weekend.

Went through something similar with my 987 Boxster two years back. Dealer wanted a fortune for a "full reseal" and an indie found a single bad seal. Ended up paying about a quarter of the quote and the car's been dry since.

On the M97 the usual suspects are the rear main seal and the IMS bearing area, so a borescope check makes sense before anyone throws parts at it. Cover gaskets do weep over time, especially on higher mileage cars. Did they also check the oil separator while they were in there?

What year is your Carrera and how many miles are on it? I'm at around 90k on mine and starting to see a bit of seepage. Also curious whether the indie used OEM parts or aftermarket, since that's what makes me nervous about leaving the dealer.
